I got started in driving on road courses only in early 2014, when I bought my 2014 Ford Fiesta ST hot-hatch. I have had such a good time doing track days that my interest in autocrossing on a national level has taken a back seat in 2015.

I bought my 2014 Ford Fiesta ST with the intent to autocross it. But the first thing I did with it was hit the track. My very first track day (ever) was with SCCA at Summit Point Raceway's Main Circuit in March 2014.

Then, in April, I did Ford's ST Octane Academy in Utah, which came free with the purchase of the car. Fun.

Then I did two track days in the fall with NASA Mid-Atlantic, at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) and then at Summit Point - Main again.

I would say VIR really hooked me on track days. It was one of the most rewarding weekends of my life. It's hard to describe the feeling of accomplishment and excitement I felt on the track and for days afterward.

Nowadays I drive the Porsche 944 on the track, since it's safer and presents less risk to both my financial and bodily health. It's nice to know I'll still have a daily driver on Monday, no matter what happens on track.

In November 2015, for my third track weekend in the 944, I moved up from HPDE-2/Intermediate to HPDE-3/Advanced. At the same time, I began modifying the car with all the safety requirements of wheel-to-wheel racers.

In July 2016, I completed NASA’s Super Competition School which was held in 100-degree heat at Dominion Raceway in Thornton, Virginia. At that point, I began road-racing the 944 in NASA’s Performance Tuning E (PTE) class.

In 2019, PTE is no more, so I’m in Super Touring 6 (ST6) class with a great group. Hopefully in NASA-Mid Atlantic, we’ll have fields of 8 or more at most events.
